Welcome to the Camino 2020 Year in Review.

In the pages that follow, you will find a curated collection of custom-drawn illustrations that capture important moments of the year through the lens of strategic communications.

This book is not our first foray into editorial cartoons - in 2007, we published a collection of New Yorker editorial cartoons. That inaugural project was born out of the great financial collapse when the world seemed very unfunny. We created that book to help brighten an otherwise miserable period, and remind us that communicators can offer a unique — and often enlightening — perspective on the events shaping our world.

Enter 2020: a year that felt to many like the world was coming apart at the seams. Rapid news cycles tested communicators like never before. Lack of accountability on social media and fake news were used to divide the country, resist urgently-needed social change, and keep broken systems intact.  Our world demanded that communicators do better -- from addressing racial justice movements to truthful public health messaging to fighting propaganda.

Although 2020 is now in the rearview mirror, troubling news continues. An attack on the U.S. Capital has the country reeling, and the tragedy of the pandemic persists. The need for good, truthful public relations has never been more urgent.

With that in mind, we are returning to our cartoon-book roots to offer insights and reflections on our world and the PR profession. In the pages that follow, we honor the resilient work of communicators and help everyone locate the humor, humanity and soul of the world even amidst the chaos and uncertainty surrounding us.

Thank you for supporting what we call PR For Good: an effort to use our platforms to help make the world a better place.
